Kingdom encourages private sector to employ Saudis

Interior Minister and Chairman of the Manpower Council Prince Nayef Ibn Abdul Aziz has approved a decision to penalize private establishments found violating the saudization law effective October 21, 1998.  Any company with 20 or more employees must have at least 5 percent Saudis;  this figure will rise to 10 percent in October 1999.   Penalties include the rejection of requests for residence permits for non-Saudi employees, and exclusion from government loans and subsidies.
