Gosaibi's nomination endorsed by Arab League

At the final session of their 14th meeting in Libya, the ministers of education and higher education of the League of Arab States unanimously agreed today to endorse the nomination of Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom Dr. Ghazi Al-Gosaibi for the post of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Saudi Education Minister Dr. Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Al-Rasheed reported that the ministerial conference took this decision in the light of the importance of putting up an Arab nominee with high qualifications, adding that it is also proof of appreciation for Saudi potentials and capabilities. Dr. Al-Rasheed stated that the Kingdom's aim in this nomination is to contribute in pushing ahead UNESCO's work, being fully aware of its important mission in spreading peace among the nations, bringing cultures closer, promoting international understanding, and serving the cause of education, especially among nations that need assistance.
