Centennial committee meets

Governor of Riyadh Province Prince Salman Ibn Abdul Aziz, who is Chairman of the Preparatory Committee and the Higher Committee for the Centennial Celebrations, presided yesterday over a joint meeting of the two committees, and praised their efforts and those of their affiliated working groups. Highlighting the Kingdom's achievements and attributing them to fruitful and frank cooperation between the leadership and the people, Prince Salman stated that the upcoming centennial celebrations reflect the importance of the country's main foundation, its faith in Islam. He reported that the work is going ahead as planned, to make the celebration of the event [the taking of the Masmak Fortress in Riyadh in 1902] that led to the founding of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a national, scientific and cultural occasion, and a reminder of the Kingdom's founder King Abdul Aziz. He referred to the project of the King Abdul Aziz Historic Center as a milestone for the City of Riyadh.
