Council of Ministers meeting

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Ibn Abdul Aziz, speaking at the weekly regular cabinet meeting held at Al-Yammah Royal Palace, reconfirmed the continuous support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Islamic work and spread of Islamic Call.  King Fahd said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was supporting every Islamic country in the way that serves its citizens and enhances its Islamic and international position.


Following the meeting, Information Minister Dr. Fouad Al-Farsi said that King Fahd highlighted the contribution of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of a number of Islamic organizations, establishments and associations including the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Muslim World League, the Islamic Development Bank, in addition to the establishment of mosques and Islamic centers all over the world. 

The Information Minister said the cabinet was then briefed by Crown Prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard, on the meetings hosted by the Islamic Republic of Iran.  The Crown Prince led the Saudi delegation to the Islamic Summit in Tehran last week.
Regarding domestic affairs, the cabinet issued a decision that the Kingdom’s telecommunication utility (the telegraph and telephone) will be transferred to a joint-stock public company within six months, effective the date of issue of the decision.  The new company, to be called the Saudi Telecommunication Company (STC), will be run on a commercial basis.
