King Fahd and Crown Prince extend 1417 Eid Al-Fitr greetings

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard, together extended greetings from Makkah this evening to the Saudi people and to Muslims worldwide on the occasion of Eid El-Fitr.

In a joint statement broadcast on radio and television on their behalf by Minister of Information Dr. Fouad Al-Farsi, the King and the Crown Prince prayed Almighty God to make the Eid happy and blessed, and full of well-being and pleasure for all Muslims, whom He had enabled to spend the holy month of Ramadan, the month of fasting, with faithful hearts.   They expressed the hope that Eid El-Fitr, which starts on Saturday [February 8], would be an occasion of happiness and delight during which faithful hearts and sincere souls would take off for new horizons of dedicated and ceaseless effort in hoisting the banner of monotheism with the aim of realizing the best interests of the Islamic world and all mankind.  They also expressed the hope that peace, stability and prosperity would prevail worldwide and that oppression, arrogance and injustice would disappear, stating:
“For our children who walk on this earth, the Eid is an occasion of pleasure and extreme delight, and for the adults, it is an opportunity for inspiration and deep thought.   In fact, each Muslim should take a sincere and true pause in order to have a close look into what is going on in our Islamic world, the problems and barriers triggered by various causes that prevent the targeted progress and development of our Islamic people.
“In this context, what is happening in certain Islamic countries is deeply painful to us, such as the killing and the bloodshed.  We hope that arbitration and wisdom and reason will come forth, and that the spirit of dialogue and brotherly understanding will prevail, in order to control and overcome selfish interests so that efforts for the well-being of all can succeed and the common interest realized.”
They also expressed confidence that the Islamic world would eventually be able to overcome the pervasive challenges, thanks to its immense capabilities and distinguished strategic position.   To realize that noble goal, all Muslims must come back on the right track and work sincerely under the umbrella of Islamic Shari’ah which guarantees justice and moral freedom.
