Saudi Arabia makes donation to Palestinian refugees

The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is to make a donation of U.S. $ 2.4 million in extraordinary support to the fund of the International Relief Agency which looks after Palestinian refugees. Since 1980 Saudi Arabia has been supporting UNRWA’s budget for the Palestinians with an annual contribution of U.S. $ 1.2 million. However, the Kingdom has, since 1975, provided extra assistance totaling U.S. $ 54 million, in addition to the contributions to social projects by the Saudi Development Fund that amount to more than U.S. $ 200 million. Over the years, various other Saudi bodies have extended assistance to the Palestinian National Authority worth over U.S. $ 400 million through donations collected from Saudi citizens and Palestinians residing in the Kingdom.
