Italian President visits Saudi Arabia

President of Italy Oscar Luigi Scalfaro left Jeddah today after a two-day state visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.   Earlier, he had talks with Crown Prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard, which were attended by Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Ambassador to Italy Prince Muhammad Ibn Nawaf Ibn Abdul Aziz, Minister of State Dr. Al-Khweiter, and members of the Italian delegation.   During the meeting, the Italian President invited Crown Prince Abdullah to visit Italy, which he agreed to do at a date to be fixed later.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Ibn Abdul Aziz was at the airport yesterday to greet President Scalfaro on his arrival, and later hosted a dinner reception for him and his delegation, at which he awarded the President the King Abdul Aziz Medal.  In return, King Fahd was presented with the Sash of the Republic of Italy, first class. 

Meanwhile, Prince Saud Al-Faisal met with his Italian counterpart Lamberto Dini to review bilateral relations and ways to promote them in addition to the latest Arab, regional and international issues of common concern.
