GCC states to cooperate in organ transplants

The GCC Ministerial Council on Health has asked its Organ Transplant Committee to study ways of enhancing cooperation among the six GCC states in the sphere of organ transplantation, notably concerning utilization of organs from those inflicted with brain death.  The committee, directed to set up the necessary mechanisms in each member state, has called for the formation of a number of teams comprising well-trained medical cadres, to see to the requirements in this field.  The council is urging member states which do not have the necessary legislation for transplanting organs to take immediate steps for this to be adopted and followed up on.  It was agreed to hold the first gulf seminar on organ transplants in Abu Dhabi next year.
