GM to supply locomotives to Saudi Railways

The Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) has signed with General Motors a contract worth SR 54 million (U.S. $ 14.4 million) to supply seven locomotives, to be assembled in conformity with the Saudi environment and climate.   The terms of the contract include the provision of comprehensive training to Saudi technicians for maintenance work.   The new engines will greatly enhance the transportation of both passengers and freight between Riyadh and Dammam, via Hofuf.
