Information Minister Dr. Fouad Al-Farsi reported that King Fahd also underscored the need to immunize society against the doctrine of terrorism and referred to the methods of combating terrorism discussed by the GCC Ministers of Interior in Muscat last week. Reviewing the principles and rules being pursued by the Kingdom to repulse the phenomenon of terrorism and the deviant doctrine which manipulates such acts, King Fahd stated that the government is sufficiently concerned with security matters and deals with them on the same level as it does other public services. He expressed confidence that the Saudi citizen is capable of shouldering his responsibility as a citizen and a defender of the Kingdom's security, which is a fundamental and basic matter.
King Fahd also reviewed with the cabinet reports presented by Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General, concerning the accident of the Saudi airliner in Indian airspace. King Fahd stated that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is in touch with the Indian government to determine the results of investigation into the crash, and reiterated his sympathy with the families and relatives of the victims, thanking all those who have extended their condolences to the Saudi government on the accident.
Reviewing matters pertaining to the standard of living of the citizens, King Fahd urged all Ministers to exert their utmost efforts to enlist all capabilities to provide the best services for the citizens to ensure their constant prosperity and welfare. Briefing the cabinet on the latest regional, Arab, Islamic and international developments, he confirmed anew the position of the Kingdom, calling for establishment of peace and stability for the entire world. The cabinet approved renewal of the cooperation agreement on technical and vocational matters between the Kingdom and the Republic of Germany for another five years starting from August 6, 1996.
