Sacrificial meat distributed

Within the framework of the Sacrificial Meat Utilization Project, implemented under the supervision of the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB), a total of 430,000 sheep, 560 goats, and 7022 cows and camels were slaughtered during this year's Hajj pilgrimage. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Ali, IDB's President, reported that 31,500 of these had been distributed to the poor of Makkah and to the pilgrims themselves during the days of Eid Al-Adha, adding that of the rest, some is being kept in cold storage pending distribution to the poor and to certain charitable societies, while quantities of the sacrifical meat have already been sent by air, by land and by sea to a number of countries throughout the world.
