Girls' education is expanding

Dr. Ali Al-Murshid, head of the General Presidency for Girls' Education, today reported that the number of schools for girls has reached 9,346 with 1,648,080 students and 129,551 female teachers. There are now 51 colleges of higher education for girls, and 168 other institutes of learning. The annual budget allocated for girls' education for the current fiscal year amounts to SR 9,364,580,000 (US $2.5 billion). Dr. Murshid, who was speaking at the inaugural session of a meeting between officials of the Presidency and directors of education, said that the development witnessed by girls' education reflects the great attention given to expansion of the educational base and diversification of specializations.
