Saudi-American breast cancer conference concludes in Jeddah

A three-day international conference on breast cancer concluded in Jeddah October 25.


The event was hosted by the Prince Sultan Center for Hemophilia and Cancer (PSHC) at King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh in cooperation with the Saudi Scientific Society for Tumors and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Participants at the conference underscored the importance of increasing awareness about breast cancer and extending support to women who have the disease. They also stressed the need for more tumor specialists in the Kingdom and called for subsidies for breast cancer patients to help pay for expensive medications.

In related news, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has approved the establishment of the King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in Riyadh. The new facility will serve as a referral hospital for children's chronic and complicated diseases including the separation of conjoined twins at the King Abdul Aziz Medical City of the National Guard.
