Foreign minister discusses regional issues, interfaith dialogue in UN meetings

The Saudi foreign minister and Secretary-General Ban reviewed the situation in Palestine, the Middle East peace process and the upcoming meeting of the Quartet (the UN, the European Union, the United States and Russia).

In addition, they discussed the initiative by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to promote interfaith dialogue, and Ban expressed support for measures to implement the initiative. Saudi Ambassador to the US Adel A. Al-Jubeir also attended the meeting.

King Abdullah’s interfaith dialogue was the main topic on the agenda during Prince Saud’s meetings yesterday with Filipino President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and UN General Assembly President Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann. Ambassador Al-Jubeir attended both of these meetings as well.

Yesterday, the Saudi foreign minister also met with the foreign ministers of Ireland, Uzbekistan and France and ASEAN. In addition, Prince Saud participated in a meeting on a universal education initiative, where he highlighted the Kingdom’s support for helping developing countries finance educational projects.
