- A trainee rider should be
not be less than 16 years old, and remain under supervision
by a responsible trainer until he reaches the age of 24,
at which time he is regarded as a professional rider.
- A rider must be physically
fit. To that end a comprehensive, state-of-the-art medical
examination is required at the beginning of each racing
season.
- A rider must complete an
adequate training period and be proven capable of riding
as certified by licensed trainers representing the body
organizing the race. The trainers are accordingly fully
responsible for any lack in the ability or the skills required
to control the camel that a rider mounts, and for ensuring
that he does not cause any accidents that may affect other
participants.
- A rider must sign a commitment,
to be approved by the body organizing the race and supported
by his father or guardian, that he understands the dangers
associated with racing and that no other body is to be held
responsible for his participation.
- A minimum weight for the
rider, namely 122 pounds, is required; a similar requirement
applies to horse riding, in order to avoid riding by
minors.
- A rider should be wearing
protective riding gear that includes a chest shield and
a helmet.
- The body supervising the
race has the responsibility for ensuring that riders abide
by these terms and any other disciplinary conditions.
- Any provincial authority
shall, when directly involved in organizing these races,
ensure that there is a commitment to the various aspects
of these measures before authorizing any race.
APPENDIX
Royal
Decree M/1300 dated 17/04/1423 H. ( June 27, 2002) raised
the minimum age of a rider to 18 years.
